Said to be originated in Africa, bottle gourd has travelled all over the world and can ever survive in saline water for more than 6 months! In some parts of the world, the bottle gourds are dried up in the sun and used as big containers, bowls or bottles which can then be used for storage of food grains, honey, milk etc.
