The organic luffa vegetable is popular all over the world in different cuisines. It has many names like patola, dishcloth gourd, Chinese okra, dodka, turai, gilki and many more. The delicate flavoured vegetable is consumed raw as well as cooked, as per different cuisines. When the luffa vegetable fully matures and dries (becomes brownish and tastes bitter), its fibers are pulled out to make sponges. They are in-turn used to make loofahs which are used to scrub the body or to even make scrubbing sponges for the kitchens and the washrooms.
